FAQs

What is freightliner code spn 3058 fmi 9? ›

SPN 3058/FMI 9

Description This Fault Code Sets when Actual EGR Flow vs. Desired EGR Flow is Greater than a Calibrated Threshold While the Engine rpm is Between 600 and 900 rpm.

What is the code SPN 3058 FMI 10? ›

SPN 3058/FMI 10 - GHG14

This code sets when the actual EGR flow vs desired EGR flow is greater than a calibrated threshold during acceleration.

What is the code for exhaust gas recirculation system monitor? ›

P0401 Code: Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Flow Insufficient Detected. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0401 stands for “Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Flow Insufficient Detected.” The code is logged once the PCM detects that there's insufficient exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) flow in the system.

What is code spn 411? ›

SPN 411/FMI 1

Description. This Fault Code Sets When EGR Delta Pressure is Too Low at High. Speeds and Loads.

Will a bad EGR valve cause a check engine light? ›

Check Engine Light Illuminates

If the ECM detects that the air/fuel mixture is incorrect, or that the EGR valve does not move properly to its commanded position, it will set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).

What does SPN and FMI mean? ›

SPN is short for suspect parameter number. It identifies which electrical circuit, part or component of your truck isn't working properly. FMI stands for failure mode identifier—this part of the fault code tells you what type of problem your truck has.

What is the fault code FMI 10? ›

FMI 10 means that a computer is receiving data but is expecting changes and not getting them or the component is taking too long to update.

What does SPN mean in diagnostics? ›

SPN stands for Suspect Parameter Number. It's a diagnostic trouble code that provides detailed information about specific faults detected by the vehicle's ECU, making it easier to identify and address issues within the vehicle's electronic systems.

How does the PCM test the EGR system? ›

A solenoid valve between the EGR valve and vacuum modulator is used by the PCM to command the EGR valve closed. To monitor EGR flow and for testing the system, there is a temperature sensor at the exhaust inlet side of the EGR valve. Increasing temperature means increasing EGR flow.

How do I know if my EGR vacuum solenoid is bad? ›

The EGR solenoid distributes engine vacuum to the EGR valve. The smell of unburnt fuel, knocking sounds, and a failed emissions test are indicators of a bad EGR solenoid.

How do I clear my EGR monitor? ›

  1. gear. Accelerate vehicle to 50 MPH* within 15 seconds. Maintain steady speed of 50 MPH* in 4.
  2. gear for 4 minutes with no interruptions. Brake and decelerate to 45 MPH* while in 4.
  3. gear and maintain speed for 3 seconds. Accelerate quickly (full throttle) while in 4.

Where is the EGR sensor located? ›

Where are these sensors located? Mechanical EGR valve position sensors are mounted on the top of the EGR valve. EGR pressure sensors will be located close to the EGR valve as the exhaust gas hose must be connected to the sensor as well as the valve.

What is spn 3058? ›

This code sets when the actual EGR flow vs desired EGR flow is greater than a calibrated threshold during deceleration.

What is the code SPN 111 on a Freightliner engine? ›

SPN 111/FMI 4

Description This Fault Sets when the Common Powertrain Controller (CPC) Detects that there is a Short to Ground on the Coolant Level Circuit or the Engine Coolant Level is Low.

What is the FMI code 9? ›

An FMI 9 failure code is an issue with the CAN communication where data is not being sent and received in a timely way by the engine computer. An example is a slow response or non-response from a VGT actuator or EGR valve, this will cause FMI 9 fault.

Do you have to reset an EGR valve? ›

EGR reset is necessary to ensure that the EGR system operates efficiently over time. As vehicles accumulate mileage, various factors such as carbon buildup and sensor malfunctions can disrupt the proper functioning of the EGR system.

How do you reset the EGR check engine light? ›

Egr code is one code that will cause the cel to stay lit. To clear it, turn the ignition switch to lock. Then the code will only remain stored but the cel should go out, if indeed there is no issues with the egr system remaining.

What does SPN mean on engine? ›

SPN stands for Suspect Parameter Number. It's a diagnostic trouble code that provides detailed information about specific faults detected by the vehicle's ECU, making it easier to identify and address issues within the vehicle's electronic systems.
