Origins[]

Bill Cosby created Little Bill as a series of picture books in 1997. In December 1997, it was announced that Nickelodeon planned to develop the books into a series of three specials. Nickelodeon eventually decided to make two full seasons of the show.

Cosby recruited some of his former costars from The Cosby Show to voice characters on Little Bill. Most importantly, Brenda (Little Bill's mom) is voiced by Phylicia Rashad, who played the mom of the family on The Cosby Show.

Run on Nickelodeon[]

Little Bill was in production for a three-year period, starting in 1997 and wrapping in 2000.[1] The show was animated at Nick Digital, a studio owned by Nickelodeon in New York.

Nickelodeon premiered the show on November 28, 1999 and didn't finish airing the last new episodes until February 6, 2004. Reruns continued until December 22, 2006.

Relaunch on Noggin[]

In September 2007, Little Bill was permanently moved to the Noggin channel. In commercials, the show was called a "new series" and the episodes were labeled as "premieres."

Why was Little Bill cancelled?[]

Nickelodeon has not aired Little Bill since 2014 due to the allegations against Bill Cosby. Nickelodeon has even retroactively removed Little Bill from past schedules that originally included the show. The series is not available on Paramount+.
