Black Forest Yogurt

A play on black forest cake - but breakfast friendly and guilt-free!

CinnApple Yogurt

Greek Yogurt Recipes for a Mediterranean Diet Breakfast! - This Bitch Says (5)

Cinnamon and apples are a classic combination and they're delicious in yogurt!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek Yogurt
  • 1 apple, diced
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • Brown sugar, to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix ingredients together.
  2. Enjoy!

Notes

For an added bonus, add some granola and it's like healthy breakfast apple pie!

If you're serving two, try using half of two different apples in each yogurt (granny smith + jazz is a personal favorite).

Yield: 1

Maple Walnut Yogurt

Greek Yogurt Recipes for a Mediterranean Diet Breakfast! - This Bitch Says (6)

Maple syrup makes everything better, including Greek Yogurt!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek Yogurt
  • 1-2 tsp maple syrup
  • Toasted walnuts

Instructions

  1. Mix yogurt, syrup, and walnuts.
  2. Enjoy!

Notes

Use the thickest Greek yogurt you can find and this is like having ice cream (for breakfast). Or, get some no-sugar-added frozen yogurt.

Pecans are also excellent with yogurt and maple syrup.

Use pure maple syrup! Pancake syrup and other syrups are corn syrup and maple flavoring which isn't as tasty or as nutritious.

Trail Mix Yogurt

Greek Yogurt Recipes for a Mediterranean Diet Breakfast! - This Bitch Says (7)

Walnuts and peanuts are the common nuts found in trail mix.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup Trail Mix

Instructions

  1. Mix yogurt with 1/4 to 1/2 cup of trail mix.
  2. Enjoy!

Notes

You can buy a pre-made trail mix or make your own. Common trail mix ingredients are peanuts, walnuts, chocolate chips, raisins, sunflower seeds, and more.

Toss in whatever you have on hand!

Why 1/4 to 1/2 cup? If your trail mix is made of really big pieces (halved pecans), you'll want more (like 1/2 cup). If your trail mix is all tiny ingredients (sunflower seeds, peanuts), you'll need less (like 1/4 cup).

Notes

Toss in some walnuts, almonds, or granola for added crunch.

Grab some of those exotic tropical fruits from the grocery store and try them in your yogurt (dragonfruit is delicious and passionfruit is one of my favorites).
